Can my garage door be spray painted?
In most cases, yes. Metal (steel/aluminium), GRP/fibreglass, and many previously painted doors can be sprayed. Some plastics and certain heavily textured finishes may need extra prep or may not be suitable.
What types of garage doors do you spray?
We can usually spray sectional doors, roller doors, up-and-over doors, side-hinged doors, and most automated garage doors (the motor and moving parts are protected during preparation).
Is it better to spray a garage door than replace it?

What colours and finishes are available?
A wide range of colours is available, including popular greys, blacks, whites, creams, and custom shades. Finishes are typically matt, satin, or gloss (satin is a common choice for garage doors).
Will the new finish look streaky or patchy?
A professional spray application should look smooth and even. Achieving a uniform finish depends on thorough cleaning/degreasing, correct priming, and applying the right coating system for the door material.
How long does garage door spray painting take?
Many garage doors can be completed in a day, depending on door size, condition, access, and drying conditions. You’ll be advised on safe use times afterwards.
When can I use the garage door again?
Often the door can be used carefully once it’s touch-dry, but full hardness (curing) takes longer. We’ll tell you when it’s safe to operate normally and when to avoid washing/handling.
What’s the difference between “dry” and “cured”?
“Dry” means the surface is touch-dry. “Cured” means the coating has fully hardened for maximum durability. Curing can take several days depending on temperature and humidity.
Do you sand the garage door first?
Yes, typically the surface is cleaned/degreased, then lightly abraded (keyed) to promote adhesion. Any rust, loose paint, or damaged areas are treated before coating.
Can you spray over rust?
Rust must be removed or treated properly first. We’ll sand back rusted areas, apply rust treatment where needed, then use suitable primers before topcoats to help prevent it returning.
Can you spray paint an electric/automated garage door?
Yes. The door can be sprayed while protecting sensors, motors, controls, and moving components. After spraying, we ensure the door is operating correctly before we finish.
